Summary

Container is a component tool that can carry packaged or unpackaged goods for transportation, and is convenient for loading and unloading with mechanical equipment. The greatest success of refrigerated container lies in the standardization of its products and a complete set of transportation systems established therefrom. It can standardize a behemoth with a load of dozens of tons, and gradually realize the logistics system of ships, ports, routes, highways, transfer stations, bridges, tunnels, and multimodal transportation around the world on this basis. This is indeed worthwhile. One of the greatest miracles ever created by mankind.

With the continuous development of container transportation, in order to meet the needs of loading different types of goods, different types of containers have appeared. Let me summarize with you today.

Classification of container

1) Ordinary container

Ordinary containers, also known as dry cargo containers, are mainly used to ship general cargo, and are usually used to ship stationery, daily necessities, medicine, textiles, handicrafts, chemical products, electronic machinery, instruments and machine parts. Such refrigerated containers account for 70 to 80% of the total number of containers. In addition to frozen goods, live animals, and plants, dry cargo containers can be used for goods that are suitable for container transportation in terms of size and weight.

2) freezer shipping container

There are two types of freezer shipping containers: external and built-in. The temperature can be adjusted between -60℃ ~ +30℃. The built-in refrigerated container can start the freezer at will during transportation to keep the container at the specified temperature; while the external type must rely on the freezer equipped on the special container vehicle, ship, special yard, and station for refrigeration. This box is suitable for transporting items such as butter, chocolate, frozen fish, condensed milk, margarine and more in summer.

3) open top shipping container

open top shipping container, also known as open top container, open top container, this kind of container does not have a box top, but has a canopy made of canvas, plastic cloth or plastic-coated cloth supported by a foldable top beam, which can be lifted from the top of the box by a crane For loading and unloading goods, the top of the open-top box can be opened or the top of the container has no fixed top surface. When shipping, the top is covered with tarpaulin, and the watertight requirements are the same as those of the dry container. It is suitable for loading heavy goods such as glass plates, steel products, machinery, etc.

4) Frame container

The frame container has no top and sides, and is characterized by loading and unloading from the side of the container. With overweight cargo as the main object, it is also convenient to load livestock, and naked cargo such as steel can be exempted from outer packaging. It can also facilitate the hoisting of large, ultra-wide and ultra-high cargoes.

5) Livestock container

Livestock Containers are boxes with metal mesh sides for good ventilation and easy feeding. It is a special container specially made for the shipment of live animals such as cattle and horses.

6) Tank refrigerated container

Tank refrigerated container is also called liquid container. It is a special container made for the transportation of food, medicine, chemicals and other liquid goods. Its structure is to fix a liquid tank in a metal frame. The International Standard Tank is a stainless steel pressure vessel mounted in a tight outer frame. The inner liner of the tank is mostly made of 316 stainless steel. Most tanks have steam or electric heating, inert gas protection, pressure relief and other optional equipment required for fluid transportation and handling.

7) Platform container

The platform container is shaped like a railway flat car, and is a container with a high load-carrying floor and no superstructure. It is suitable for overweight and long cargo, with a length of more than 6 meters, a width of more than 4 meters, a height of about 4.5 meters, and a weight of up to 40 metric tons. And two platform containers can be linked together to hold 80 metric tons of cargo. It is extremely convenient to use this kind of box to transport cars.

8) Ventilated container

The ventilated refrigerated container has 4-6 ventilation holes on the wall, and the inner wall is coated with a plastic layer, suitable for loading fresh vegetables and fruits and other goods that are afraid of heat and stuffiness.

9) Thermal container

The thermal insulation container box has a heat insulation layer, and the top of the box has an air inlet and outlet that can adjust the angle. The outside air and wind direction can be used to adjust the temperature inside the box. It is suitable for shipping goods that are sensitive to temperature and humidity.

10) Bulk container

Bulk containers generally have 2 to 3 small hatches at the top for loading. There is a lifting frame at the bottom, which can be raised to a 40° inclination angle for unloading. This box is suitable for bulk cargo such as grain and cement. For plant quarantine, it can also be steamed and washed in the box.

Hanging containers are suitable for containers of clothing goods. With the development of international trade, the commodity structure is constantly changing, and various types of special or multi-purpose containers will appear in the future.

With the advent of shipping containers, shipping has become so cheap and fast that it is far more cost-effective.  So far, mankind has truly kicked off the prelude of efficient global logistics and realized the concept of the global village.
