Design And Use Of Container Cold Storage

Food refrigeration preservation is increasingly popular with improved living standards, and some supermarkets have higher requirements for food refrigeration preservation. To ensure food safety, they often need to be equipped with cold storage, which needs related basic construction and assembly and can only be fixed in a specific position, not movable. The container cold storage design does not require additional foundation construction. It is easy to move or adjust the appointment as long as it is placed on flat ground and plugged in to use. Based on the above advantages, Cold Storage containers have become the direction of the development of cold storage.

1 Container Cold Storage Usage Profile

As a means of transporting cold goods, refrigerated containers have standardized size, professional design, assembly line production, and more stable quality and function.

The container cold storage converted from the reefer container can avoid the long-term construction in the cold storage place so as to.

To protect the environment and save costs.

In general, frozen items and refrigerated items need to be stored separately in different temperature zones. In the case of a single chiller, the cold storage needs to be divided into units to meet the storage temperature requirements of additional items.

In general, a 20-foot TEU can be divided into 2 or 3 space; if more than 3 partitions are separated, it means less space for each team, and it is not convenient for temperature control and storage of items.

For easy transportation, container cold storage can be converted from a single reefer container. The width is standard container width length.

It can be designed according to demand (10~53ft). Furthermore, if transport conditions permit, the width and height of the container cold storage can also be different from the actual size of a standard container to meet the user’s particular requirements for the size of the cold storage.

Sufficient refrigerant is the basis for the fast freezing of stored items. IQF container cold storage equipped with multiple chillers to produce enough

Refrigerant can make room-temperature items quickly into the frozen state.

2 Container Cold Storage Design Considerations

2.1 Internal Partition

For different user needs of container cold storage (such as storage temperature, storage cycle, etc.), the method of separating the internal storage space of container cold storage is also different.

Storage area separation needs to consider the introduction and distribution of refrigerant between different areas to control the effective temperature range and ensure the quality of stored items.

The advantages of plastic door curtains or cotton curtain partitions are simple, easy to implement, low cost.

The advantage of using insulation material partition is easy to control the temperature in each area, and the disadvantage is that the cost is relatively high. Customers can choose the partition material according to their needs.

2.2 Door End Anti-Frost

Because the temperature in the container cold storage is generally below -18 ℃, plus the cold storage door mainly adopts end seal design, the door end sealing surface is more extensive, poor sealing, resulting in the door end being prone to frost phenomenon.

The anti-frost measures at the door end are as follows:

  1. adopt area separation layout from freezing to refrigerated to the door;
  2. a small insulation space is added at the end of the door;
  3. installation of the heating device at the end of the door;
  4. installation of air curtains at the door, etc.

Among them, the first two measures can make refrigerant form a leakage ladder from the inside to the outside, not only to alleviate the phenomenon of door end frost but also to protect the rubber strip.

2.3 Cold Storage Door Design

Traditional ample cold storage generally adopts a sliding door structure, reducing the space waste caused by opening and closing the door. On the other hand, container cold storage is usually used by hinges connected to revolving doors. The back door can be designed as a single door or double door. A double door can be designed as the size of the door according to demand.

In the daily use process, the door design can meet the needs of people or goods while reducing the exchange of refrigerant and air outside the warehouse to maintain the set temperature better and reduce energy consumption.

For cold storage doors that switch frequently, the addition of a curtain can effectively reduce the heat exchange between the inside and outside the store. The door lock can be designed in a container lock lever, but its convenience is not as good as the traditional sizeable cold storage door lock.

3 Precautions For Using Container Cold Storage

(1) The container cold storage can be used for freezing and refrigerating items and as transport units and buildings. After the container cold storage position is moved, the door end diagonal must be adjusted so that the diagonal length deviation is less than 5 mm to facilitate the cold storage door opening and closing operation.

(2) in the case of cold storage door with an end seal, the door and door frame end surface are required to ensure good contact with the end face to ensure the sealing. When the strip is partially deformed, it is necessary to adjust the strip with the help of external force to ensure tightness.
